"Mission style lamps give extremely cool mood lighting medium-sized rooms like dorms. Coolness is a quality of this lamp that can’t be denied and doubted by people from all walks of life. The lamp, with its crystal clear bulb emits an amber-orange atmosphere around the room. I’m not really sure of the exact hue but it’s close enough to amber-orange. Even when it’s off, it still looks amazing, making my dorm room somewhat “classy”.

You can also opt for CFC chandelier bulbs; there are some of these bulbs that are available and can fit into the lamp. The only downside with this is the inability of the dimming feature to work. But since a 13w CFC bulb gives off just as much light as a 40w regular bulb, there’s a big possibility that you’d get more light out of it. Heat wouldn’t be a worry even if you put a 60w equivalent but doing that would waste the 3-way dimmer feature of the lamp.

With the regular 25w chandelier bulb:

* It’s essentially a night light on the lowest setting. The light would just be bright enough to function as a very dim night light. Except for hat, it has no function at all. But of course there are times that all you need is just a night light.
* Great background lighting can be obtained from the middle setting. The room will be surrounded with a very light “wash” of orange – ideal for watching TV or surfing the web. The orange/amber atmosphere exudes a warm mood and feeling. If you’re with your significant other, it is quite romantic. If you’re alone or with friends, it is quite cozy and homey. This setting provides a fireplace-like mood. Furthermore, the middle setting differs more from the lowest setting than the highest setting. You’ll be able to identify and distinguish the mission style design if you walk around a medium-sized room with the lamp in the middle setting.
* The highest setting on the mission style lamps are only slightly brighter than the middle one. It still has no function other than being a mood light for the light is still not that bright. For instance, at the middle setting, I could not see the letters on my keyboard and when I shifted it to the highest setting, the letters are only barely seen.

The lamp is approximately 8 inches high and the base has an area of 6 square inches. Unless you put it high on a bookshelf or something, the bulb can be seen because the top is not covered. The inside of the lamp can get real dusty as a result of this.

Even though you can’t use it for activities such as reading, knitting, etc, even at its brightest, this product is still highly recommended. The type of light that it gives (nice and diffused, no bright spots and a pretty “wash”  around the room) is perfect for background and mood lighting. Our mission style lamps give the room a warm and cozy atmosphere and sometimes, this is all what we need."
